At JPL Sound we are experts for all types of Outdoor & Indoor Events - no matter how large or small.

For the smallest of events - we start with a simple handheld megaphone loudhailer. For larger events we have Mobile Car Sets - these comprise of a board with 2 re-entrant loudspeaker horns fitted to it, a small amplifier that operates from 12v DC which can be derived either from the cigarette lighter socket in a car or van, or from a supplied 12v battery. These systems are ideal for school sports, Auctioneers, Pony Club Events and smaller sporting events - these system can cover approximately 500 - 750 people. For those that want more facilities in a portable format, we have available our portable Sound Systems with everything built into the speaker housing - re-chargeable battery, amplifier with various inputs, radio microphone receiver and CD player. We stock 2 sizes of system - either a 75 watt system of a 50 watt system, although you will find it hard to tell the difference! The system come complete with tripod stand and a radio microphone of your choice - either handheld or body pack with head microphone OR lapel type microphone.

For larger types of Event, we can supply any size sound system to cover from a few hundred people to huge crowds of hundreds of thousands! If you have to cover very big areas such as used at major sporting events such as Motor Bike Enduro Events, Horse Trials & Hunter Trials Cross Country Courses, Athletics Cross Country, Air Shows, water based sports such as Power Boats, Water Ski-ing, Rowing, Car Rallies etc., then we are the people to speak to!

We have over 35 years experience in covering every type of event from small sporting, leisure & cultural events - right up to major national and international sporting events that involve extensive sound systems that are capable of covering huge areas of countryside, town & city centres, waterfront areas such as beaches and promenades.

Sound systems can be designed using a variety of different types of Loudspeaker, all of which are suitable for different types of application.

For Sound Systems that are required to relay both speech and music, Column Speakers and Music Horns are used extensively for high quality sound and covering big crowds but without discomfort to spectators if they are close to any of the loudspeakers!  For Systems that are primarily for speech, then Horns really come into their own - and they do not have to sound 'harsh & tinny' - as some people think they will sound. Although horns cannot reproduce frequencies below about 100Mhz (Bass), they are still very capable of producing a very rounded tone for speech - which is very suitable for large sporting events that perhaps do not attract enormous crowds, but the crowds that do attend are scattered across a very wide area.

For sporting events that create a lot of noise, such as Motor Bike Events, Car racing etc., then we also have a good stock of Large 42" Straight Horns which are quite capable of punching through the most noisiest of sports.

Regardless of the type of loudspeaker used, any sound system will only be as good as the amplifier used to power the system. For smaller sound systems we can supply amplifiers from 30 watts onwards which are capable of operating on either mains or 12v battery. When 100 watts is exceeded then amplifiers are available in 120 watts, 150, 200, 250, 360, 480 watts again that can operated on mains OR 24v DC. For big systems covering very big areas then we use mains operated twin channel 100v line amplifiers, that are capable of 800watts per channel at 100v line - these can be linked together to produce very large and extensive systems.
